“This is an earthquake on the Indo-Australian plate or a Benioff earthquake. The ground motion is indeed stronger than earthquakes of its class from other sources,” wrote the Head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Center BMKG, Daryono, via his Twitter account, Thursday (8/12/2022).

“Not the Cianjur shallow crustal earthquake, not even the megathrust earthquake,” he added.

“While working, suddenly the computer was shaking, I thought it was a headache due to the night shift, it turned out to be a real earthquake,” said a netizen on Twitter.
