Bali’s One-Handed Online Motorcycle Taxi Driver Receives Heartwarming Surprise from Tiktok Influencer

A local online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) driver in Bali received an unexpected outpouring of support from a kind-hearted foreign tourist who also happens to be a popular Tiktok influencer named Elias, known for his Tiktok account “Rescue Brothers.” Elias, known for his penchant for helping those in need, was deeply moved by the driver’s resilience and decided to give money and a new motorcycle to Arul, the one-handed ojek driver. The heartwarming incident took place in Bali and was later shared by Elias on his Tiktok account, quickly gaining widespread attention.

Unlike most online motorcycle taxi drivers, Arul faces physical limitations as he goes about his daily work. He operates his motorcycle taxi service with just one hand, and surprisingly, he has been doing so since 2021. During a conversation with Elias, Arul opened up about an incident several decades ago, which resulted in the amputation of his hand.

“May I ask what happened?” inquired Elias. “There was an accident in my village when I was 10 years old. We had vast fields, and we were cultivating sugarcane. I was pulling a stalk, lost my balance,” Arul recounted.

“I managed to save my head, but I lost my arm, so this is how it is now,” Arul added, smiling.

Despite his circumstances, Arul considers himself fortunate to have a job that allows him to support his beloved mother and younger sibling. Listening to Arul’s story deeply touched Elias.

Elias decided to bless Arul with a cash gift of IDR 500,000, saying, “Your story has touched my heart, and you deserve this.”

Arul was overwhelmed with joy and could hardly find words to express his gratitude. He asked Elias to put the money in one of his jacket pockets, saying, “I can’t take it; thank you.”

The video shared by the TikTok account “Rescue Brothers” quickly went viral, attracting millions of viewers. Many netizens were moved by Arul’s determination and resilience, prompting them to contribute donations to help him.

In a separate video, the Tiktok influencer was seen visiting Arul once again. This time, Elias had another surprise for Arul as he revealed his plan to gather funds from his followers and the online community to buy Arul a new motorcycle.

“Many people support and want to help you,” the Tiktok influencer announced.

“That’s why we came here, so we could tell you that, with our community and platform, we want to raise money to buy you a motorbike,” Elias continued.

Arul was visibly elated upon hearing the good news from the Tiktok influencer, and a broad smile crossed his face. The generosity and support shown by Elias and the online community have provided a glimmer of hope and a brighter future for Arul, the resilient one-handed ojek driver of Bali.
