26th September 2022 – The Delegation of ANOC (Association of  National Olympic Committees) confirms that Bali will host the 2nd ANOC World Beach Games on 5-15 August 2023. This means Indonesia is the second country to be trusted to host the prestigious multi-sport beach and water sports after Qatar. The first edition of the ANOC World Beach Games was held in Doha, Qatar in 2019.

The ANOC World Beach Games 2023 will hold 10 mandatory sports, namely aquathlon, beach handball, beach football, beach tennis, beach volleyball 4×4, beach water polo, beach wrestling, individual word discipline karate, kite surfing, and 5km open water swimming. In addition to the 10 main sports, there will be four additional sports, two will be submitted by the host and the other two will be submitted by ANOC.

As Bali will host the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games, the government expects it to boost tourism on the Island of the Gods so that it can recover from the fall after the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

The ANOC World Beach Games 2023 will be attended by 1,200 athletes and 1,400 officials from 100 countries. In addition, along with the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games, there will be an ANOC General Assembly attended by representatives of 205 NOCs and 36 international sports federations.

For five days, the ANOC delegation visited and discussed potential locations for ANOC World Beach Games Bali 2023, such as Kuta, Nusa Dua, Garuda Wisnu Kencana, to Sanur. This review is an initial identification of options for determining accommodation, medical facilities, transportation routes, as well as the venue for the opening ceremony, as well as the venue which will then be a discussion at the International Federation (IF’s) Technical Delegation (TD) meeting in Bali in September 2022. They also met with I Wayan Koster, the Governor of Bali, who declared his support for the event.

A few ministries also have meetings with the ANOC delegations, namely the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. They have declared their support for the event to succeed.
