The Indonesian national football team has arrived in Bali to begin its training camp in preparation for the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Training is taking place at the Bali United Training Center, Purnama Beach, Gianyar, from Monday, 26 May to Saturday, 31 May 2025.

The training sessions are being led by newly appointed head coach Patrick Kluivert.

According to information obtained by detikBali, the team commenced its first session at 16:15 WITA. The sessions are closed to the public, and media access is limited to 15 minutes before the start of each training session.

The Bali United Training Center has become a regular venue for the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) during the national team’s World Cup qualifying campaigns, from the first round to the current third round.

The facilities, including its internationally standardised grass pitches and representative environment, were key reasons for selecting the location.

23 Players Join Camp in Bali

A total of 23 players have already arrived in Bali for the training camp, ahead of the crucial Group C matches. The Indonesian national team will host China on 5 June, followed by an away fixture against Japan five days later.

Team manager and PSSI Executive Committee member Sumardji confirmed the attendance of all 11 players who competed in Liga 1.

Several players from European clubs have also arrived, including Thom Haye, Joey Pelupessy, and Dean James, who were the latest to land on the Island of the Gods. They join their fellow European-based teammates such as Nathan Tjoe-A-On, who plays for Swansea City, and Jordi Amat.

Other arrivals include Marselino Ferdinan, Ivar Jenner, Ole Romeny, and Shayne Pattynama, all of whom had reached Bali earlier.

Currently, nine of the 32 players called up by coach Kluivert have yet to join the camp. Among those absent are Jay Idzes and Kevin Diks, who have just concluded their respective seasons with their clubs.

Following the training camp in Bali, the team is scheduled to travel to Jakarta for final preparations ahead of the China match.

Indonesia currently sits fourth in Group C with nine points, trailing Japan (20), Australia (13), and Saudi Arabia (10).

Winning both upcoming matches would significantly boost Indonesia’s chances of securing a direct qualification spot for the 2026 World Cup.

Alexander Mahaputra, Media Officer for Bali United, confirmed that this marks the third time the national team has held a training camp at the Bali United Training Center in Pantai Purnama.

“This is the first time for Patrick Kluivert, but during Shin Tae-yong’s time there were several training camps here, said Alexander Mahaputra, as quoted by DetikNews.
