A foreign woman was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing four items of clothing worth a total of IDR 2.5 million from the Yoga Shanty shop on Jalan Hanoman No. 30, Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali. Footage of the incident was later shared on social media and went viral.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 27, 2026, at around 4:40pm WITA, according to Wangsa Kartika, an employee at Yoga Shanty. He spoke about the incident to detikBali on Tuesday, July 28.

Woman Allegedly Took Four Items of Clothing

Wangsa said the foreign tourist entered the shop alone while carrying a large white bag. At the time, there were five other customers and two employees inside the store.

The woman initially appeared to be browsing the shop as a regular customer. She looked at several items, including tops and trousers, before allegedly taking the clothing without paying for them.

According to Wangsa, the incident took place over approximately 10 minutes. The woman allegedly left the shop with four items: a pair of trousers, a tank top, a miniskirt and a jumpsuit.

“All the stolen items were red. The total value of the stolen goods was IDR 2.5 million. She tried on the trousers in the fitting room and then put them into her bag. Her movements were very quick, especially since we were busy serving other customers at the time,” Wangsa said.

The CCTV footage reportedly shows the woman’s movements inside the shop. The footage was subsequently circulated on social media in an effort to alert other businesses and members of the public.

Police Have Visited the Shop, But No Formal Report Filed

Following the incident, police officers visited the Yoga Shanty shop and took a statement from the staff. However, the management has not yet filed an official police report.

“Police officers came earlier and asked for a statement, but we haven’t filed an official report. We just made it go viral so that this doesn’t happen elsewhere,” Wangsa said.

The identity of the woman remains unknown. Wangsa said he could only recall some of her physical characteristics at the time of the incident.

She reportedly had dark hair and was wearing a green top and shorts. She was also carrying the large white bag that was seen when she entered the shop.

“Police officers came earlier and took a statement, but we haven’t filed a formal report. We simply made the incident go viral to prevent it from happening elsewhere,” said Wangsa.

Wangsa added that the incident was not the first theft reported at the clothing shop. According to him, Yoga Shanty has experienced similar incidents on four previous occasions.

The viral CCTV footage has since drawn attention on social media, while the shop has not confirmed the identity of the woman or announced whether a formal police report will be submitted.
