Indonesia Airasia has announced the opening of a new international route connecting Bali and Da Nang (Vietnam). The services set to begin on March 20, 2026.

The airline will operate the Bali – Da Nang route for times a week. The flights scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. This will become Indonesia AirAsia’s Seventh international route operating from Bali.

The company said that the route will be the only direct flight between Bali and Da Nang currently served by the airline. They described the route as part of their ongoing expansion in Southeast Asia.

It also strengthen Bali’s role as one of AirAsia international hubs with multiple direct flight to destinations across the Asia-Pacific Region.

Airline Aims to Strengthen Regional Connectivity

Acting President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, said the new route is expected to improve tourism connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam.

“After previously connecting with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia, Indonesia AirAsia is now expanding its network to Vietnam through an exclusive direct route currently served only by Indonesia AirAsia from Bali to Da Nang, providing more travel options for travellers,” Captain Sadikin said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

He added that the direct flight would open access to destinations that can now be reached directly from Bali, while supporting regional travel flows within Southeast Asia.

Sadikin also said the Bali–Da Nang service is expected to strengthen connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam through fly-through services. These services will allow passengers to travel from Jakarta and Labuan Bajo to Da Nang via Bali.

According to the airline, the route also supports connections to Indonesia AirAsia’s international network from Bali to several Australian cities, including Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne.

Tourism Growth Supports New Route

Data from the Vietnam National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance shows that international tourist arrivals to Vietnam from January to November 2025 reached 19.15 million. This figure represents an increase of approximately 20.9% compared with the same period in the previous year.

The data also indicates growth from Southeast Asian markets, including Indonesia, which recorded an increase of 13.8% the same period.

Da Nang, Vietnam’s fifth-largest city, has seen rising interest from international visitors. The city is known for its coastal location, urban development, and public spaces that attract tourists. It is often referred to as the “Miami of Vietnam”.

As we know, Bali remains one of Southeast Asia’s most established tourism destinations. The island offers a wide range of attractions, including cultural sites in Ubud, beaches in Kuta, Seminyak, and Nusa Dua, as well as natural destinations such as Uluwatu and Nusa Penida.
