Vietnam Airlines Opens Direct Jakarta–Hanoi Route Starting 23 November 2025

Vietnam Airlines will launch a direct Jakarta–Hanoi service on 23 November 2025, operating five times a week.

The move arrives at a moment of rising curiosity among Indonesian travellers, with tiket.com recording more than a 200 per cent increase in Jakarta–Hanoi bookings in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period last year.

“This surge confirms the interest of Indonesian tourists in Vietnamese destinations, especially Hanoi,” a representative from tiket.com said in Jakarta on Friday (21 November 2025).

The trend highlights how Indonesia’s outbound market is widening beyond familiar ASEAN favourites, with Hanoi emerging as a weekend-friendly city break and a gateway to northern Vietnam.

Responding to this strong interest, tiket.com has opened bookings for the new Vietnam Airlines service. The direct route offers a useful alternative for travellers who previously had to transit in Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur.

The airline is positioning the route towards passengers who value comfort, offering in-flight meals and full-service amenities as standard. As a member of the SkyTeam global alliance, Vietnam Airlines is also targeting Indonesian customers who frequently travel long-haul and prefer seamless connections.

Hanoi Strengthens Its Position as a Northern Vietnam Gateway

Tiket.com’s Director of Transportation, Andi Hendrawan, welcomed the route as a timely addition to Indonesia’s growing list of outbound travel options.

“We are very enthusiastic about welcoming Vietnam Airlines’ new route from Jakarta to Hanoi. This route expands the choice of international destinations for our customers. It also reinforces tiket.com’s commitment to providing an easy and comfortable travel experience. We hope that more Indonesian tourists will be inspired to explore Vietnam through this new route,” he said, quoted by SWA.co.id on 23 November 2025.

The direct link is expected to make Hanoi even more appealing as a starting point for wider journeys across northern and central Vietnam. Popular destinations such as Ninh Binh can be reached within two hours by car, while Sapa is accessible by train or bus within five to six hours.

Many travellers also pair a stay in Hanoi with a trip to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located roughly 2.5 hours away. With easier access, Indonesian tourists may now be more inclined to plan multi-city itineraries.

Andi added that the airline’s full-service model would likely attract travellers looking for a smoother journey.

“With its advantages as a full-service airline and a member of the SkyTeam global alliance, tiket.com hopes that the regular Jakarta–Hanoi route will provide a more comfortable flying experience for Indonesian tourists while also encouraging tourism growth in both countries, both for Indonesian tourists to Vietnam and vice versa.”

Vietnam Airlines continues to emphasise its cabin quality, meal service, and full-service benefits as key selling points for passengers flying medium-haul within Asia. The airline hopes that improved connectivity will strengthen tourism flow between Indonesia and Vietnam, especially as both markets continue to recover and expand.
