Indonesia has entered the global top ten for World Wellness Weekend 2025, securing ninth place among participating countries.

With 307 activities hosted across Jakarta and Bali, the country stood out as one of the leading destinations for health and wellness tourism.

Jakarta itself was ranked sixth among the world’s top 20 cities, thanks to its contribution of 93 wellness events.

The 9th edition of World Wellness Weekend, held from 19–21 September 2025, attracted 10,000 venues in 155 countries. Indonesia was represented by 125 wellness tourism destinations nationwide, a significant milestone in showcasing its commitment to holistic health and lifestyle experiences.

“This achievement demonstrates that Indonesia is not only a destination for leisure, but also for wellness,” said Dwi Santini, the City Ambassador for Bali.

“World Wellness Weekend is not only a celebration of a healthy lifestyle, but also an opportunity to strengthen Indonesia’s image as a global wellness destination. In addition to raising awareness of holistic health, this event opens up opportunities for collaboration across sectors such as tourism, health, culture, culinary, and community.”

Bali’s Blend of Tradition and Modern Practice

In Bali, more than 44 participating spas, fitness centres and wellness communities offered programmes ranging from yoga sessions to spa therapies. What made Bali stand out was the way local traditions blended with contemporary practices, giving participants a uniquely Indonesian take on wellness.

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, was among the most prominent hosts, curating three days of activities to help guests reconnect with themselves. Led by Wellness Ambassadors and supported by Dr Jitendra Pokhriyal, Westin’s Director of Wellness, the resort highlighted balance, mindfulness and sustainability.

“Through these activities, we want people to restore their well-being and take inspiration for healthier lifestyles,” said Dr Pokhriyal, who has long promoted a holistic approach within Westin Hotels & Resorts.

Bali’s strong showing only reinforced its growing reputation as one of the world’s leading wellness tourism destinations.

Jakarta’s Urban Retreat

For those in the capital, the focus was on practical but enjoyable activities that could fit into busy routines. Yoga, pilates, meditation, fitness classes, spa treatments and healthy dining were all on the agenda.

Jakarta’s role was further strengthened by the leadership of Wulan Maharani Tilaar, Director of Martha Tilaar Spa, who served as the City Ambassador for World Wellness Weekend 2025.

“In this role, I work across different sectors—brands, associations, communities and individuals—to build wellness initiatives that have a real impact on society,” she explained, as reported by Wartaevent.

Jakarta’s 93 activities ensured its place among the world’s top ten cities, confirming its growing appeal as an urban hub for wellness tourism.

A Global Movement with Local Impact

Launched in 2017, World Wellness Weekend aims to empower professionals across hospitality, fitness, spa, sport and tourism to encourage sustainable and inclusive wellness practices.

The initiative is guided by five pillars: Sleep & Creativity, Nutrition & Immunity, Movement & Vitality, Mindfulness & Serenity, and Purpose & Solidarity.

For Indonesia, participation in the 2025 edition reflects not only enthusiasm for wellness trends but also the country’s strength in offering a blend of natural landscapes, cultural heritage and modern facilities.

With Jakarta and Bali leading the charge, Indonesia’s position as a global wellness tourism hub looks stronger than ever.
