Video Shows Australian Tourist’s Room Invaded by Mischievous Monkeys in Bali

Share:

A holiday in Bali took an amusing turn for Australian tourist Jazz Walsh when a monkey broke into her room in Uluwatu and ransacked the room while she was out enjoying a massage.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Walsh, an office worker from Sydney, was staying just steps away from Uluwatu when she received a video message from a resort employee on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

The video, later shared on her TikTok account, showed her belongings scattered across the floor, drawers open, and a general state of disarray.

“Good afternoon, ma’am. I think a monkey entered your room, the staff member could be heard saying, as he filmed the scene. He explained that the intruder had likely come in through the bathroom window before rummaging through her things.

The staff member said he became aware of the situation after finding a pair of headphones that appeared to have been thrown through the window. Walsh later discovered her AirPods had been removed from their case, which was left behind.

“Those silly cheeky Bali monkeys, she wrote in the caption of the video. A commenter asked in the video,I hope you didn’t lose anything?in which she replied,They took my AirPods 😭 😂.”

Some people even share their experience with the monkeys in Bali.

“This happened to me in Indonesia, and they took my packet of BBQ shapes from my suitcase 🙈,wrote a netizen.

How to Avoid Monkeys In Bali

The villa where Walsh was staying offers spacious terraces, tropical gardens, and a cliff-edge restaurant, amenities that make it a popular choice for foreign visitors. Later, she replied in a comment that she stayed in Korowai Bali. A very beautiful place to stay in Bali; however, that means encounters with monkeys are not uncommon.

British tourist Sylvia, who stayed in the same area, recalled having to lock her doors and windows after monkeys attempted a similar intrusion.Don’t leave items outside your room and make sure doors and windows are always locked, she advised.

Theseuninvited guestsmay be a source of entertainment for some, but they can also cause inconvenience or even damage if given the opportunity. While many visitors see the monkeys as part of Bali’s charm, resort staff encourage guests to take precautions.

Tips for staying safe from monkeys in Bali include:

  • Close access points: Always secure windows, doors, and balcony doors when you leave your room. Even small gaps can be enough for monkeys to squeeze through.
  • Store food safely: Avoid leaving food or drinks in accessible areas such as tables or balconies. Keep them in a fridge or sealed containers.
  • Do not feed them: Feeding monkeys encourages them to return and search for more food.
  • Avoid direct eye contact: This can be perceived as a challenge and may provoke aggression.
  • Do not retrieve items: If a monkey takes something, report it to hotel staff rather than trying to get it back yourself.
  • Keep your distance: Do not attempt to approach or touch monkeys.
  • Watch for warning signs: If a monkey shows bared teeth, growls, or appears tense, move away calmly.
  • Report incidents: Inform hotel staff immediately if you see monkeys entering rooms or taking items.

For Walsh, the experience was more amusing than alarming, and her TikTok post drew plenty of laughs from viewers. But for those less keen on wildlife rummaging through their luggage, a few simple precautions can keep the mischief outside, and the holiday memories inside, at your own choosing.
