The Directorate General of Immigration has arrested a Chinese national, identified by the initials XP, in Tabanan, Bali, over allegations of large-scale fraud and immigration violations. XP, who has been on the Chinese government’s fugitive list, was taken into custody on 10 July 2025 by a joint team from the Sub-Directorate of Investigation and the Denpasar Class I TPI Immigration Office.

XP had been convicted by the Guangzhou People’s Procuratorate on 21 January 2015 for fraud committed since September 2014, which resulted in financial losses amounting to 12,698,600 RMB, equivalent to approximately IDR 28.5 billion.

In addition to the fraud charges, XP was found to be residing in Indonesia without a valid residence permit.

Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, stated that the arrest was made following cyber surveillance conducted by the Sub-Directorate of Investigation.

“XP was secured at his residence on 10 July 2025 at 01:30 WITA,Yuldi confirmed in an official statement on Sunday, 13 July 2025.

He was then taken to the Denpasar Immigration Office for further examination and has now been placed in the detention room before the deportation process to his home country.”

Deportation Process Completed in Compliance with International Standards

XP was deported to Guangzhou on 12 July 2025 via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. According to the Directorate General of Immigration, the deportation process was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and international cooperation standards.

“This process fully complies with applicable legal provisions, while prioritising humanitarian aspects and the principles of international cooperation, said Yuldi.

Yuldi emphasised the importance of ongoing collaboration with international partners to prevent Indonesia from becoming a haven for foreign nationals involved in criminal activity.

“The Directorate General of Immigration continues to cooperate with other countries in terms of exchanging data and information on foreigners to prevent problematic foreigners from making Indonesia a hiding place,he noted.

He also reaffirmed Indonesia’s position on upholding the rule of law in collaboration with international authorities.

“The arrest of international fugitives is clear evidence of the Directorate General of Immigration’s commitment to assisting foreign counterparts to enforce the laws of international criminals in the form of intense cooperation,he said.

This is a sign that Indonesia is not a place of escape for fugitives who avoid criminal punishment from their country,he added.

The Immigration authorities reiterated their stance that foreign nationals must comply with Indonesian immigration laws and that enforcement actions will continue to be taken in line with national and international standards.
