Jetstar has announced the launch of a new direct international route between Newcastle Airport and Bali (Denpasar), with services scheduled to commence on 21 October 2025. This marks Newcastle’s return to regular international flights for the first time in over five years.
The new service will operate three times per week using Jetstar’s modern A321LR fleet, offering more than 70,000 seats annually between the two destinations.
With a flight time of just over six hours, the direct route eliminates the need for passengers from the Newcastle region to transit through other major airports, offering a more convenient and time-efficient travel option.
“The new international route is an exciting milestone as Jetstar continues to significantly expand its network,” said Jetstar Group CEO Stephanie Tully. “We’re thrilled to be the airline to launch Newcastle’s first international flights in more than five years with our new direct service from Newcastle to Bali.”
This route becomes Jetstar’s 10th to Bali and follows closely on the heels of the airline’s Gold Coast to Bali route announcement, which begins in August 2025. Bali remains Jetstar’s most popular international destination, with around 100 flights per week across its network.
Regional Boost and Route Launch Sale Announced
The new Newcastle–Bali route has been made possible with the assistance of the NSW Government’s Aviation Attraction Fund, which aims to strengthen regional air connectivity and tourism.
The upcoming international terminal at Newcastle Airport, set to open later this year, is expected to support further international expansion.
To mark the launch, Jetstar has announced a 24-hour Route Launch Sale, with one-way fares starting from AUD 199, available exclusively via Jetstar.com beginning midday AEST today.
The limited-time offer presents an affordable opportunity for travellers keen to explore one of Southeast Asia’s most visited destinations.
Jetstar’s introduction of this route not only benefits leisure travellers but also supports regional economic growth by enhancing access to global markets and tourism hubs.
The addition of this service underlines the strategic importance of Newcastle Airport as a growing international gateway.
