Viral Facebook Group Promoting Incest Sparks Outrage and Police Investigation in Indonesia

Share:

A Facebook group named “Fantasi Sedarah”, which glorifies incestuous sexual fantasies, has gone viral on Indonesian social media, sparking widespread public outrage and prompting an immediate response from authorities.

The group, reportedly containing thousands of members, is accused of sharing deviant narratives, explicit photos, and content involving minors.

Users across platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok expressed shock and disgust upon discovering the group. Many demanded immediate action, with mass reporting efforts underway to have the page removed.

However, as of Friday, the group remained accessible, and membership was observed to be increasing.

Police Cyber Unit Launches Investigation

The Cyber Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has confirmed it is actively investigating the Facebook group, following public complaints and media exposure. Officers are now gathering digital evidence to uncover those responsible for its creation and administration.

“It is certain that the Cyber Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya will investigate and explore the Facebook account,” stated AKBP Reonald Simanjuntak, Head of the Public Information Sub-Division at Polda Metro Jaya, during a press briefing on Friday, 16 May 2025, as quoted by Kompas.

Reonald assured the public that the investigation would be swift and thorough:

“Please pray that it can be revealed and we can stop this crime and not repeat it in the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

Ministry Confirms Violation of Norms and Child Protection Laws

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) also issued a strong statement condemning the group. According to Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry, the group represents a clear breach of societal norms and legal protections for minors.

“The group contains adult fantasy content of community members against biological families, especially minors,” he stated.

“This group is classified as spreading an understanding that is contrary to the norms prevailing in society,” he added.

Following the viral uproar, Kemkomdigi acted swiftly, blocking six related Facebook groups and coordinating directly with Meta Platforms, Facebook’s parent company, to address the spread of this harmful content.

“Kemkomdigi swiftly followed up on public complaints and has terminated access to six Facebook groups,” Alexander said.

“We immediately coordinated with Meta to block the community group,” he added.
