Indonesia U-17 Qualifies for 2025 World Cup After Beating Yemen

Share:

The Indonesian U-17 national team extended their lead over Yemen U-17 to 4-1 in the second match of the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup on Monday (7/4/2025) evening.

Playing at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia’s U-17 national team coach, Nova Arianto, maintained the same winning lineup that had secured a 1-0 victory over South Korea on Friday, 4th April 2025.

What was different this time was that the Indonesian U-17 national team appeared more attacking. On multiple occasions, Muhammad Mierza Firjatullah and his teammates threatened the Yemeni goal. However, their finishing was not quite perfect, preventing the opening goal from arriving earlier.

In the 16th minute, Indonesia finally broke the deadlock. Zahaby Gholy’s powerful strike from outside the penalty box tore through the Yemen defence, giving Indonesia a 1-0 lead.

The Indonesian U-17 team played very well in this match, immediately putting pressure on Yemen’s defence from the start.

Indonesia won 4-1 against Yemen in the second match of Group C of the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah on Monday (7/4/2025).

The goals for Indonesia were scored by Zahaby Gholy in the 15th minute, Fadly Alberto in the 24th minute, and Evandra Florasta in the 86th and 89th minutes.

Yemen’s goal came from a penalty kick converted by Mohammed Wahib Al-Garash in the 52nd minute.

With this result, the Indonesian U-17 national team has officially qualified for the 2025 U-17 World Cup.

Although there is still one match left, the Garuda Asia squad is certain to secure a ticket to the 2025 U-17 World Cup, though they are still awaiting confirmation of whether they will finish as group winners or runners-up.

The Indonesian U-17 national team is the latest team to confirm its place in the 2025 U-17 World Cup finals, which will be held in Qatar from 3rd to 27th November 2025.

This certainty was achieved after Indonesia officially qualified for the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup quarter-finals as Group C champions. Their six points from the first two Group C matches are unassailable, ensuring that Indonesia will finish in one of the top two positions.
