Recently, one of the popular foreign Influencers, Jay Mondy, was spotted dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s viral song “Not Like Us” in front of the iconic Bajra Sandhi Monument located in Renon Field, Denpasar, Bali.

This performance was part of the global TikTok dance trend that took off after Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl earlier this year. In the video, Mondy dances with a group of locals, showcasing the cultural exchange and love for Bali that he has developed during his visit.

Jay Mondy’s Continued Love for Bali and Indonesia

This isn’t Jay Mondy’s first time in Indonesia, as he previously gained attention for another viral dance video from 2024. In that video, he danced with Indonesian elementary school student Nurul Azizah Safitri, who has been passionate about dance since she was four years old.

Azizah’s mother enrolled her in dance classes at the Miracle Dance Mataram Studio after noticing her love for dancing at home.

As reported by IDNmedia, Azizah, along with her parents, spoke about how the dance collaboration with Jay Mondy and his fellow dancer Isabell came to be.

“The next day, they made content wearing red and white uniforms and taekwondo clothes at Sangkareang Park,” said Azizah, explaining how the dance content was created during their time in Lombok, where they stayed for a week.

The Global Spread of Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Dance Trend

It has been two weeks since Kendrick Lamar’s performance at Super Bowl LVIII, and his song “Not Like Us” has continued to capture attention worldwide.

The song, known for its diss track to singer Drake, quickly became a viral sensation, sparking a dance challenge on TikTok that was embraced by people of all ages and backgrounds.

Not only did the dance moves become a global trend, but Lamar’s fashion, especially his flare jeans, also gained significant attention.

The 1970s style of flare jeans, which had first been introduced in the 1960s and reached peak popularity in the 1970s, made a strong comeback, as Lamar wore them during his Super Bowl performance, catching the eye of many fans.
