Indonesia is entering the rainy season, which is characterized by high rainfall and windy conditions. This season also affects Bali, which is actually entering the high season because it is approaching the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Center for Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar predicts that the peak of the rainy season in Bali will occur in December 2024. Meanwhile, some parts of Bali have begun the rainy season since last September.

The head of the Meteorological Working Group of BBMKG Region III, Denpasar I, Nyoman Gede Wiryajaya, explained that this was based on the results of the analysis and consideration of physical conditions and atmospheric dynamics.

According to him, areas of Bali that have entered the beginning of the rainy season include northern Tabanan, northern Badung, northern Gianyar, and central Bangli.

Wirajaya said that as much as 50 per cent of Bali, covering northern and eastern Jembrana, central and southern Buleleng, and western, northern, and central Tabanan, will experience the peak of the rainy season in December 2024.

Next, Badung is in the north and centre, Gianyar is in the north, centre, and south, Bangli is in the centre and south, Karangasem is in the west and south, and Klungkung is in the north.

Bali’s rainy season can be a shocking experience for foreign tourists and expats alike. Some areas experience flooding, which, of course, hampers transportation mobility. In addition, lightning activity and large rumbles can also be alarming.

The following videos, both uploaded by @hungess, show the heavy rain in Bali. Motorcyclists and passengers should wear raincoats to protect their bodies from rainfall.
