PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) announced the construction of Indonesia’s marina tourism centre at Benoa Port, Bali, specifically at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH).
The Bali marina facility has a capacity of 180 berths and can accommodate more than 50 superyachts with a length of up to 90 meters.
The marina, which is targeted to operate in the second semester of 2025, is expected to become the anchor of Indonesia’s maritime tourism, providing a multiplier effect on the development of butterfly route cruise routes.
It will cover important ports such as Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Perak, Gilimas, Labuan Bajo, and Raja Ampat.
“The new marina in Bali embodies our vision to position Indonesia as a key player in the global maritime industry, combining comfort experiences and quality services as well as safe and world-class infrastructure,” Pelindo CEO Arif Suhartono said in a press statement reported by Antara.
The Bali marina, which is targeted to operate in the second half of 2025, is expected to become the anchor of Indonesia’s maritime tourism, providing a multiplier effect on the development of butterfly route cruise routes that include essential ports such as Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Perak, Gilimas, Labuan Bajo and Raja Ampat.
Pelindo will work with PT Kharisma Anugrah Jawara Abadi (KAJA) and PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) to optimize BMTH Development Area 1.
KAJA will develop and manage the entertainment zone, while MDI will develop and manage the marina by providing on-water service facilities and land-based entertainment facilities such as yacht clubs, restaurants, and international-standard yacht service stations.
Ulf Backlund, President Director of MDI, added, “Indonesia deserves a first-class marina that reflects its status as the world’s new yachting paradise.”
Sail to Indonesia 2024 event
Last October 2-4, 2024, Pelindo specially organized the Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH. More than 50 yachts from 11 countries, such as Australia, Singapore, and America, attended BMTH and enjoyed the journey at the Sail to Indonesia Rally.
Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, also supported the “Sail to Indonesia Goes to Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH)” initiative initiated by PT Pelindo to strengthen maritime connectivity and national logistics.
Furthermore, he also revealed that the activity was significant for Indonesia’s economic growth.
“These initiatives are very important for Indonesia’s economic growth, contributing significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and creating employment opportunities,” he said.
