Some beaches in Bali are known to be dangerous and even take people’s lives. This is sad because the victims are usually tourists on vacation in Bali. What was supposed to be a fun vacation can turn horrible when it takes a life.
Despite the beautiful and inviting beaches for swimming, the waters in Bali can sometimes turn terrifying, and tourists who ignore the warnings can end up dying.
Some locations where sea accidents have been reported to happen to tourists in Bali are Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, and Angel Billabong.
These three beaches are located in Nusa Penida.
Recently, a foreign tourist from Qatar, was killed by a wave at Kelingking Beach, Bali. The victim’s body was found floating by the Bali Basarnas Team, who searched.
This deadly tragedy began when the victim and three of his colleagues were swimming at Kelingking Beach. However, suddenly, a big wave came and rolled the three tourists.
Because tragic accidents often occur, Klungkung Tourism Head, Ni Made Sulistiawati, said she would place security officers in vulnerable destinations such as Kelingking Beach. These security officers will be responsible for monitoring the beach, providing immediate assistance in case of emergencies, and enforcing safety regulations.
The Tourism Office has installed safety fences and warning boards on several beaches in Nusa Penida that are highly risky for accidents.
“We will also increase security at destinations by placing security officers at vulnerable destinations, for example, Kelingking Beach,” Sulistiawati said, as reported by Tribun Bali.
These include Devil Rear Beach, Kelingking Beach, Angels Billabong, Diamond, and Broken Beach, as well as appeals and announcements prohibiting swimming at Kelingking Beach.
It’s just that in the field, tourists still often ignore these restrictions.
In fact, some tourists are still desperate to swim at Kelingking Beach, even though there is already a prohibition board for swimming on the beach. So, the warning board is also considered ineffective.
Other beaches in Nusa Penida, such as Broken Beach, have also killed tourists several times. This beach is located on a cliff about 50 meters high, with a characteristic natural bridge formed from coral rocks that encircles a small bay.

However, when the waves enter the bay, the beach creates a dramatic and terrifying scene. As seen by @d_canut1 video, the waves can reach the top of the cliff and drag tourists who get too close to it.
Another dangerous spot in Nusa Penida is Angel Billabong. There are often videos circulating of tourists on Angel Billabong Beach desperate to swim in the area.
Although beautiful, one of dangerous beach in Bali is often hit by large waves that can drag tourists into the open ocean. The most important thing when vacationing in this area is always to pay attention to the signs and listen to the tour guides’ directions.
