‘Whoosh’ High-Speed Rail Introduce Dynamic Pricing, Starting Price from IDR 150,000

Share:

On 3rd February 2024, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia (KCIC) implemented a dynamic pricing ticket system with the lowest fare set at IDR 150,000 for the Whoosh high-speed rail. This system aims to facilitate passengers in acquiring tickets and achieving significant savings during specific timeframes from Jakarta-Bandung and the other way around.

As per information from Eva Chairunisa, the General Manager and Corporate Secretary of KCIC, the dynamic pricing model enables passengers to access varied fares for Whoosh trips throughout the day (28/1/2023).

Under this scheme, Whoosh Premium Economy class fares will vary between IDR 150,000, IDR 175,000, IDR 200,000, IDR 225,000, and IDR 250,000. The dynamic pricing system at Whoosh is influenced by several factors, including peak and off-peak hours, high and low seasons, and weekdays versus weekends.

During peak hours or high seasons, Whoosh ticket prices are expected to be higher compared to the rates during low seasons. As of early 2024, Whoosh has accommodated over 1.4 million passengers, with an average trip occupancy ranging between 60% and 80%.

Individuals interested in riding the Whoosh train can purchase tickets directly through their official website at ticket.kcic.co.id or utilize the vending machines available at the station. Additionally, KCIC is implementing various strategies, including partnerships with 12 tourist, culinary, and lodging destinations, to boost tourism visits.

Whoosh has introduced special promotional discounts for ticket holders, offering a range of attractive incentives. The surge in Whoosh passenger numbers commenced during the extended Christmas and New Year holidays, reaching 21 thousand passengers daily.

Whoosh provides a quicker alternative for passengers travelling from Jakarta to Bandung. Despite utilizing toll roads, private vehicle journeys may take 2-3 hours to reach the destination. In contrast, opting for Whoosh reduces the travel time to just 30 to 45 minutes when utilizing the feeder train.
