As of January 2024, only two airports in Indonesia—Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta and Ngurah Rai Bali—utilize the autogate systems. Plans are underway to expand this service to several other international airports in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) and Juanda Airport in Surabaya.

Get to Know About the Autogate Systems in Indonesian Airport

The airport’s autogate systems, designed by immigration authorities, offer a contactless inspection process, streamlining the entry and exit procedures for passengers in Indonesia. This system isn’t exclusive to Indonesia; it’s also implemented in other countries like Dubai and Singapore.

Utilizing biometric data records, the autogate machines cross-reference this information with our Visa data. This system aims to facilitate passengers in efficiently managing their documents during their entry to or exit from Indonesia.

Here’s how to pass through the autogate systems at Indonesian airports such as Ngurah Rai (Bali) and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta):

  • Prepare your passport (electronic/non-electronic) and ensure you possess a visa, which includes Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) or Electronic Visa (e-Visa) obtained via the evisa.imigration.go.id website.
  • Visa-free passport holders (from ASEAN Countries) need to register their BVK application at evisa.imigration.go.id. Foreign travelers can also scan barcodes located around Soekarno-Hatta Airport and register through the provided link to gain access via the autogate system.
  • Position your face before the camera for facial recognition, avoiding facial coverings like masks, glasses, or hats.
  • The administrative process through the airport’s autogate system typically takes only 15-25 seconds for each passenger.
