Two foreign tourists went viral after a video captured their refusal to pay treatment fees at a nail art salon in North Kuta, Bali (14/12/2023). The video was shared by the Instagram account @hallo.denpasar and has been viewed by 126,000 people.

The incident escalated as the tourists declined to pay the nail treatment cost of IDR 930,000. Lina, one of the salon staff, mentioned that the customers arrived as walk-ins without prior bookings and initially agreed to a treatment order priced at IDR 600,000.

During the treatment, they made additional requests which warranted extra charges, a detail that was explained to them beforehand. The tourists agreed to these requests and requested the salon employees to proceed.

After the nail treatment around 6:30 PM local time, the foreign tourists were presented with a bill of IDR 930,000. However, they vehemently refused to pay, citing the cost as being too expensive.

Two Foreign Tourists Abusing The Salon Employee

Shortly after, one of the tourists became furious and started cursing at the cashier on duty. The situation escalated as both tourists continued to use harsh language towards the salon employees. In an attempt to calm the situation, Lina, a staff member, offered a discounted price of IDR 810,000 to ease the tension.

Despite this, the two foreign tourists persisted in their refusal to pay, claiming they only had IDR 700,000. Eventually, after further dispute, the salon staff received payment from the tourists, putting an end to the commotion.

Unexpectedly, one of the tourists swiftly retrieved the money handed over to the cashier, reigniting the commotion. More individuals intervened to separate the involved parties. Shortly after, the two foreign tourists departed abruptly, prompting the salon to report the incident to the local authorities.

According to information from the Badung Police, the two tourists hail from the United States and England. Ngurah Rai immigration authorities apprehended them as they attempted to depart Indonesia on Sunday, 17 December 2023. Presently, ongoing investigations aim to impose penalties on tourists for their disruptive behaviour during their Bali vacation.
