It’s nothing new if old aeroplane bodies are transformed into restaurants, cafes and museums. Not only abroad, but in Bali, there is also a plane wreck that has become a luxury villa, you know.

As reported on Monday 13th February 2023 there is an unusual view at the top of the cliff of Nyang-Nyang Beach in Bali. You will see the plane ‘parked’ facing the sea.

This plane is not an ordinary plane, you know. Inside has been transformed into a luxury villa. He said, the most beautiful aeroplane transformation today is this plane.

So, this Boeing aircraft was used by Mandala Airlines (which is now defunct). The Boeing 737 was retired and bought by developer Felix Demin in 2021 and transported to its current location.

Demin, who is also the owner of the Bubble Hotel Bali hotel chain, initially wanted to buy a jet for his personal needs. But he realized there was a promising potential from ‘conjuring’ the plane into a villa.

“Even before buying it, I thought it was possible to turn it into some kind of unique object, and decided to concentrate on making villas,” he said.

He also decided to buy a Boeing 737 which had previously been purchased by an Indonesian investor, and he paid for it.

How to transport such a large fuselage?

So, surely a traveller is curious about how a plane that big can pass on the streets of Bali, which can be considered small? Denim said that he had to disassemble the fuselage.

“We had to take it apart after consulting the Boeing team. We had to loosen 50,000 bolts,” he said.

The whole planning process took about 2 months. The fuselage also has to use 2 cranes, a large platform, and various specialist teams to involve police escorts. It took 5 days for execution.

Another challenge also comes from the small streets of Bali and the many low-hanging cables. In the process of transporting them, they have a team and special equipment to lift the cables higher so that the transport vehicles can pass.

The plane was reassembled and the process of taking apart the inside of the plane began. Demin also wants anyone who comes to stay to feel amazed.

The price per night is IDR 106 million

This villa has 2 bedrooms and a swimming pool. Oh yes, the name of this villa is Private Jet Villa by Hanging Gardens, which is located 150 meters above sea level.

You can rent this room starting in April with prices per night starting from USD 7,000 (Rp. 106.5 million).

There are stairs in the wing for access to the main door. Inside, there is a living room complete with a bar, sofa bed, and glass portal, and two bedrooms with walk-in wardrobes.

The cockpit has been converted into a large bathroom with additional portholes so that those inside can see the sea. The property also has sun loungers, an outdoor lounge area and a bonfire.

Security guaranteed

Demin stressed that the plane had gone through various safety checks. Because of its precarious position, as well as various images on social media showing influencers walking along the wings or sticking their feet in the plane doors.

Demin explained that a barrier had been set up on the rock for safety purposes. But he had trouble recruiting someone to install the glass barriers on the wings that were positioned over the cliff.

“There are certain difficulties with this, especially with the wings. But we will do it anyway, as soon as we find someone brave enough to implement it,” he said.
