Din Tai Fung: A World-Renowned Chinese Restaurant

When craving some Chinese food with a promising Xiao Long Bao, we never go anywhere else except Din Tai Fung. There are twelve outlets all over Jakarta, with some of them being Chef’s Table which still provides some of their favourite menus. For this trip, we’re going to their outlet in Puri Indah Mall.

The ambiance is alright and quite normal, it’s their signature red that makes us know that it is a Din Tai Fung restaurant without having to look at the sign. It’s an open kitchen style, where you can see some of the chefs working on several dishes—especially their Xiao Long Bao and noodle dishes.

For the food, we ordered Deep Fried Shrimp and Chicken Wonton, Pork Xiao Long Bao, Roast Duck Noodle, Fried Chicken Cutlet and Shrimp, and Pork Wonton Soup.

As I am a wonton lover, their wonton is never a disappointment whether it’s deep-fried or in the soup. The Deep-Fried Wonton has a really crunchy texture with soft chunks of shrimp and chicken, combined with their sweet mayonnaise sauce, it’s addicting. For the Wonton Soup, the broth is really flavourful, you can taste every ingredient inside the wonton too.

The Roast Duck Noodle comes with a thick brown soup that tastes sweet. The Roasted Duck is juicy and thick, it doesn’t have many spices thus you can taste the duck from it. The noodles are silky and thin, it’s easy to eat and slides down easily too. Their Fried Chicken Cutlet is crispy and juicy, a good partner after you eat the Xiao Long Bao.

You shouldn’t question their signature Xiao Long Bao, as it’s moist, juicy, and flavourful! Although it’s best for you to consume it immediately, or else it can get a little bit sticky and its shell dries out from exposure to the air.

Nevertheless, Din Tai Fung is where you should go for an affordable Chinese restaurant with their specialty Xiao Long Bao. The staffs are really helpful and friendly, they’ll always make sure your food arrives as fast as possible too. They’re very strict with their cleanliness, as chefs wear face masks when they are cooking and delivering the food to you. Going to Din Tai Fung is for sure, guaranteed satisfying Chinese food!
