15th September 2022 – The number of foreign tourists in Bali increases by 45 percent thanks to the upcoming G20 Summit on November 2022.

“For now, with the addition of more airlines to Bali, the number of foreign tourist arrivals is at 9,000 to 10,000 (people), which is an increase of 45 percent,” said Tjok Bagus Pemayun, the Head of the Bali Provincial Government Tourism Office on Wednesday (14/9).

The moment of preparation for the G20 Summit is also used for equal distribution of tourism in Bali.

“We are pushing for activities involving MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition). Small capacity meetings of 150 people will be held in either Candidasa or Lovina,” he explained.

Pemayun is optimistic that foreign tourists’ visits will surpass the target by the end of 2022. Though he explained that the target is as many tourists as possible, he’s confident that the target of 1 million foreign tourists will be surpassed by the end of the year.

He also hopes that with the variety of events on a national and international scale, tourists can extend the length of their visit to the Island of the Gods. As this will be beneficial for hotels and other accommodations.

Other than the number of foreign tourists increasing, there is also an increase in the accommodation sector. It is recorded that the average occupancy in the Nusa Dua area raises up to 60 percent in the last three months.

The President Director of Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Ari Respati, said that this is driven by the increase in the frequency of national and international meetings held in the area as well as other tourism activities in Bali.

There is also a variety of “side events” of G20 held in the area, such as the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment (MCWE).

He is optimistic that the occupancy rate in the third quarter of the year will be maintained above 50 percent. This is because there are still a lot of events and activities that will take place in the future.
