Jokowi Express Condolences on Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

9th September 2022 – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expresses his deepest condolences on Queen Elizabeth II’s death through his official Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Through his social media, he said that Queen Elizabeth II is a widely admired and beloved queen. The President of Indonesia also expresses sympathy towards the Royal Family, the Government, and also the people of the UK.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a widely admired and beloved queen,” quoted from Joko Widodo’s Twitter, “my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, the government, and the people of the UK.”

Queen Elizabeth II passed away in Balmoral Castle, Scotland, on Thursday (8/9) afternoon. She is the longest-reigning monarch in British history and took her last breath at the age of 96, having ruled for 70 years.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the royal family announced on its official Twitter account.

As reported by the BBC, the first heir to the throne, Price Charles, became king under the name King Charles III after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Global Tributes to Queen Elizabeth II

Numerous world leaders such as the US President, Joe Biden, President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, and the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also expressed their deepest condolences.

Pope Francis has expressed his condolences to the Queen saying that she was a “steadfast witness of faith in Jesus Christ” in an open letter.

The new prime minister of the UK, Liz Truss, said that it was “a huge shock to the nation and the world.”

“Queen Elizabeth II was the rock on which modern Britain was built,” the prime minister said, “Our country has grown and flourished under her reign.”
