A Foreign Prisoner Suspected to Control Ecstasy Dealers

Share:

24th August 2022 – The Bekasi Metro Resort Police (Polres) has arrested two dealers of thousands of ecstasy pills in the international network between the Africa-Europe-Asia continents, IT (32), and AI (25). The police suspect that one of the three managers and the user is from a foreign country in prison.

“It is suspected that the manager and user of the ecstasy type of narcotics package are in one of the correctional institutions where the buyer had the initials SHY (foreigner), RP, and also AH,” stated Gidion Arif Setyawan, Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner.

The police are investigating the foreigner’s involvement and the other two culprits in terms of the distribution of ecstasy pills. Before it was on the news, IT and AI are arrested by the police after strong evidence of involvement in the international drug trafficking network.

Their arrest started with public reports about the circulation of ecstasy by sending packages from the African continent to Indonesia. From that information, the police know the plan to send ecstasy from Kongo, through Belgium and Germany then, later on, ends up in Asia or Jakarta area.

Knowing this, the police immediately coordinated with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Customs Office to monitor three package receipts suspected of carrying ecstasy. From the result of observation, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Customs Office claimed that there are two suspicious packages containing methamphetamine.

The two packages are confiscated at the German Customs Office while one package managed to get to Indonesia. The police then work together with the Soekarno-Hatta Customs Office to find the destination address. It was then discovered that the destination address is a fake address.

However, the police did not stop the investigation immediately. They track the delivery route of the package suspected of narcotics.

After a few days, the police found another clue for a re-delivery of a package suspected to contain ecstasy pills to the Grand Wisata area, Tambun, Bekasi. From there, the police caught IT with the ecstasy pills.

AI’s arrest followed after following the information from IT at a hospital’s parking lot in Central Jakarta with 500 ecstasy pills.

From them, the police confiscated 4,911 ecstasy pills with a weight of 2,140,2 grams. Both of them are sentenced to 20 years in prison.
