Foreigners Have 90 Days Upon Arrival For a “Second Home Visa”

Foreign nationals applying for a second home visa have 90 days after arriving in Indonesia to complete the requirements, with proof of ownership of money equivalent to IDR 2 billion or ownership of property luxury in Indonesia.

If the second home visa applicant is unable to show proof of ownership of money kept in a state-owned bank or certificate of luxury property within a period of 90 days, immigration will impose sanctions such as deportation/return to their country of origin.

“Within 90 days, the foreigner must come to the immigration office to prove that this is my money of IDR 2 billion is in the bank, complete with a bank statement that the money is available, or proof of luxury property ownership, (selected) one of them,” said the Head of the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Bali Anggiat Napitupulu.

If these conditions are met, said Anggiat, immigration will certify the visa submitted by the applicant. However, if a foreigner who arrives in Indonesia with a second home visa fails to show proof of possession of money or a luxury property certificate.

Immigration will charge the terms. “If within 90 days we don’t report, we will Uber, we will hurry,” said Anggiat at a press conference regarding the performance achievements of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2022.

The Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, this year launched a second home visa service for foreigners, that allows them to stay for 5 or 10 years in Indonesia.

The latest immigration service is one of the government’s efforts to recruit foreign nationals who are considered to have the potential to invest or build a business in Indonesia.

However, second-home visa holders are not required to have a job or do business in Indonesia when they arrive in Indonesia.

“Please enter with a limited stay visa while thinking about (investment opportunities, ed.). Therefore, we need proof of ownership of such a large amount of funds so that if he does linger in Indonesia, he should not be absent. The money is for living,” said the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

On the same occasion, he conveyed again that foreigners who are interested in holding a second home visa can submit an application directly to the Directorate General of Immigration, the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights through an application based on the website molina.imigration.go.id

Previously, Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly mentioned a second home visa makes it easier for citizens of the country Foreigners (foreigners) to invest and do business in Indonesia because the visa holder is allowed to stay in the country for as long as 5 years to 10 years.

He denied the notion that the policy could trigger waves of foreign migration, including from China to Indonesia. “Malaysia is ahead of us. Its name, Silver Hair Visa, is not being invaded. We have Bali. We have other areas because they have to invest (invest) here,” said Yasonna.

The Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia launched a second home visa service on October 25, 2022, to make it easier for foreigners who have the potential to become investors to stay longer in Indonesia.
