88rising Launches First All-Indonesian Artist: Girl Group with Breathtaking Music Video
The renowned music label 88rising has made another significant stride in the Asian music industry by introducing 88rising Artist, No Na, a newly formed girl group comprised entirely of Indonesian members. The group is set to make its official debut on 2 May 2025.
No Na garnered immediate public attention following the group’s announcement via the official @88rising Instagram account on Tuesday, 29 April 2025.
As 88rising’s first-ever Indonesian girl group project, No Na represents a strategic expansion into the Southeast Asian music market. Backed by the full support of an internationally respected label, the group is viewed as a fresh symbol of emerging Indonesian talent ready to take the global stage.
The presence of No Na not only enriches the Asian music landscape, but also serves as a source of national pride. Their performances are expected to feature strong cultural elements, celebrating a distinctly Indonesian identity.
The Concept Behind No Na: Local Identity and Global Appeal
One notable aspect of the group is the distinctive naming convention: each member’s stage name begins with ‘Nona’, a word that evokes femininity and carries cultural resonance in Indonesia. This choice reinforces their national branding while appealing to wider Asian audiences.
The name No Na itself is soft, easy to remember, and fitting for today’s music market, particularly among younger demographics in Asia.
The group consists of four talented members, each with a strong background in entertainment, whether in music, dance, or academics:
Miss Baila (Baila Fauri)
Hailing from Jakarta, Baila rose to prominence through Indonesian Idol Junior 2014, where she reached the top six. She later competed in the regular Indonesian Idol and is known to be close to fellow young Indonesian celebrities such as Jennifer Coppen and Devano Danendra.
Nona Christy (Christy Gardena)
Christy is from Lombok and is a professional ballet dancer. She secured third place in the 2019 International Dance Asia Competition (duo category). She also gained popularity on TikTok before her account was deactivated.
Miss Esther (Esther Geraldine)
Esther became widely known after appearing on the 10th season of Indonesian Idol. Supported by her family, she pursued a music career and has since released the song ‘Rarity’ and collaborated with major artists like Dipha Barus and Afgan on ‘Keep It Hush’.
Ms Shazfa (Shazfa Adesya)
Shazfa studied Public Relations and Advertising at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, and was listed on the Dean’s List in 2022. In addition to academic excellence, she is active in dance and shares her work through TikTok on @shazfa.adesya.
“Shoot” Music Video Highlights Indonesia’s Natural Beauty
In the introductory video uploaded by 88rising, No Na is presented with a fairy-tale-like visual concept, showcasing the natural beauty of Indonesian women. The video opens with the sound of Balinese gamelan instruments and features stunning coastal landscapes, enhancing the group’s cultural presentation.
@jnicedaystudio Replying to @sforseasalt Ku spill lokasi Curug-nya! Their debut track, titled “Shoot”, is an upbeat pop-dance number with a relaxed musical tone. It is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
The music video portrays the members singing, dancing, and enjoying the serene settings of rice fields, beaches, and a waterfall — the latter being the Banyumala Twin Waterfall in Buleleng, Bali.
Located in Banjar Asah Panji, Wanagiri Village, the waterfall offers cool mountain air and is surrounded by lush gardens and greenery. To reach the site, visitors must first take a short trek. However, the effort is well worth it — the twin waterfalls stand around 37 metres high and cascade into a natural pool, ideal for swimming and soaking in the scenery.
