Two TransJakarta buses collided head-on on Corridor 13 in the Cipulir area of Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Monday morning, injuring 24 passengers.
The incident occurred at approximately 07.15 WIB on the elevated busway connecting Ciledug and Tendean.
Kasubdit Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Ojo Ruslani said the crash took place on a two-way TransJakarta lane without a physical divider, specifically in the Swadarma section heading towards Cipulir.
The buses involved were a TransJakarta Bianglala bus with registration number B 7136 SGA, driven by Yayan, travelling from Kebayoran towards Cipulir, and a TransJakarta Mayasari Bhakti bus with registration number B 7353 TGC, driven by Arfan Sukoco, travelling in the opposite direction.
According to Detiknews, Ojo Ruslani said that the driver (Yayan) admitted that he fell asleep while driving.
“As a result, his vehicle entered the opposite lane, causing a head-on collision,” Ruslani said.
Images and videos circulating on social media showed both buses with significant damage to their front sections. Several passengers were seen leaving the vehicle and gathering near the Cipulir bus stop following the crash.

All Injured Victims Were Passengers on One Bus
Police confirmed that the bus driven by Yayan was not carrying any passengers at the time of the incident. All 24 injured victims were passengers on the Mayasari Bhakti bus driven by Arfan Sukoco.
“The current number of injured victims is 24. There were no fatalities,” said Ojo Ruslani.
The injured passengers were taken to Sari Asih Hospital in Ciledug and Bakti Mulya Hospital in Slipi for treatment. Authorities said two passengers suffered fractures and were treated at Sari Asih Hospital in Ciledug, while the remaining victims sustained minor injuries.
Emergency responders and TransJakarta personnel evacuated passengers and secured the scene shortly after the incident. The removal of the damaged buses was still ongoing at the time of reporting.
The elevated busway, also known as the “sky lane”, operates as a dedicated corridor for TransJakarta buses. Authorities said the crash occurred on a section without a central barrier separating opposing traffic.
