The ideal time to visit Pink Beach is during the dry season, typically from May to September. During this period, the weather is pleasant, and the calm waters of Pink Beach allow for a more enjoyable and safer boat journey. 

The pink colour comes from the reef, which is a local dive site. The reef is red and pink shells, and small pieces fall off and wash up on the beach. Waves erode small debris and mix it with sand to create a gorgeous pink beach that contrasts beautifully with the turquoise waters. To really enjoy the colour scheme, be sure to visit the 10-hour “Golden Hour” at 12 AM and 4 AM at local time.

To get to Pink Beach in Lombok, you have to go off the beaten path. Lombok’s east coast is relatively undeveloped and undeveloped, so be prepared to negotiate bumpy dirt roads. If you are comfortable with mopeds, you can ride one. It takes 1.5 – 2 hours to drive from Kuta Lombok to the pink beach. 

If you want to arrange a driver, they are easily arranged in Kuta. The entrance fee is around IDR 500,000; you can book a private driver for a day trip and create your own Lombok itinerary.

By Road Travel 

The drive from Kuta is 55 km and takes 1.5 – 2 hours by car. If you’re adventurous, you can rent a motorbike or car and travel on your own. The drive to the beach is breathtaking and photogenic. You’ll pass miles of lush green paddy fields and locals drying sweet corn by the roadside, surrounded by chickens and cows. 

If you want someone to pay you to do all the work, you can hire a car and driver for around IDR 500,000 a day. The advantage of this is that all drivers have local knowledge and can suggest some interesting places to stop along the way. 

By Water Travel (Boat Trip)

You can travel by boat with three boatmen, which provides snorkelling gear and life jackets only with a price total of around IDR 550,000 per day. It seems very exhilarating, stopping at a few cool spots along the way, including a floating dining spot where the chef catches what you order and cooks it right in front of you.

Pink Beach on Lombok is a great spot for snorkelling, with beautiful coral reefs just offshore. It’s also one of the beach’s big draws, with many snorkelling tours stopping at Pink Beach to see the colourful marine life that swims in these waters. Be sure to bring your own gear, as renting gear on the beach is impossible.

Sunbathing and Relaxing at Tangsi Beach

It’s like watching a volcano within a volcano. It is one of Indonesia’s most beautiful mountains, and the trek takes at least two days, but most people prefer the 3-day trek, which is a bit less busy. Although you can do this trip on your own, booking a tour with an experienced guide is highly recommended.

If hiking isn’t your thing, you can drive the spectacular Saddle Road between Mount Rinjani and the smaller volcanoes to the east. You can rent a 4×4 or go with a guide, but the roads can be very rough, so regular rental cars are not recommended. A drive to the top offers the best views of the mountains, but the best views are from the top, overlooking the deep canyons that lead to the north coast.
