The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate will implement temporary road closures on several major roads in the capital from 5 to 7 February 2026. The measures coincide with the state visit of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to Indonesia.
The traffic restrictions will not be enforced continuously throughout the day. Instead, closures will be applied situationally, following the movement of the state guest’s motorcade. Roads will be reopened once the convoy has passed and closed again as required, depending on the official schedule and travel routes.
According to the police, traffic engineering will begin daily at 7.00 pm WIB and remain in effect until all state activities have concluded. During these hours, motorists may experience reduced traffic flow, particularly in areas located along the official travel routes.
List of Roads Affected by Temporary Closures
The Traffic Management Centre (TMC) has identified several road sections that may be affected by temporary closures during the visit.
These include:
- Jalan Halim Perdanakusuma
- Jalan MT Haryono
- Jalan HR Rasuna Said
- Jalan Prof. Dr Soepomo
- Jalan Prof. Dr Satrio
- Jalan Jenderal Sudirman
- Jalan MH Thamrin
- The Medan Merdeka Barat area
Most of the affected roads are located in Central Jakarta and South Jakarta. These areas serve as major urban corridors and are frequently used for government and diplomatic activities. Traffic diversions are expected at several points along these routes, which may increase travel times, particularly during the evening hours.
The police have stated that traffic management will be adjusted based on real-time conditions on the ground. Officers will be deployed along affected roads to manage vehicle flow and ensure public safety during the implementation of the closures.
Police Urge Motorists to Adjust Travel Plans
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have urged the public to anticipate possible congestion by planning travel schedules in advance and considering alternative routes where available. Motorists are also advised to follow instructions from traffic officers deployed in the field.
Road users travelling through affected areas during the evening are encouraged to remain alert and monitor official traffic updates. The police emphasised that the measures are intended to support the smooth implementation of state activities while maintaining public order and safety.
The state visit forms part of the ongoing bilateral diplomatic agenda between Indonesia and Australia. Authorities have stated that security and traffic arrangements are being coordinated to ensure that official activities proceed as scheduled while minimising disruption to public mobility in Jakarta.
