Drug Lab Discovered in Bali Villa Owned by Foreigner from Philippines

Bali has once again been the target of an international drug operation. This time, three Filipinos were arrested in connection with a clandestine drug lab in the Mamma Ji House villa, Gianyar, Bali.

The three Filipinos arrested were a man named Diego Alejandro Santos, alias DAS (28), and two women with the initials PMS (DAS’s mother) and DOS (DAS’s sister).

The drug factory was financed by a Jordanian citizen, Ali Mohamed Isa alias AMI, who is still at large.

BNN Eradication Deputy Inspector General I Wayan Sugiri revealed that the secret drug laboratory produced a new type of drug that was first discovered in Indonesia, namely DMT. The foreigners produced the illicit goods in solid and liquid form.

“(DMT) is the first time in Indonesia for its manufacture. DMT requires a long process to get the final result in the form of solids and liquids,” Sugiri said, as reported by Detik.

The head of BNN RI, Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom, said suspect DAS had been experimenting with making the new type of drug since January 2024.

DAS, who is known to be a chemical engineering graduate, initially processed chemicals, such as bleaching clothes and other cleaning fluids.

DAS then used his skills to create a drug funded by AMI. The experiment was successful after six months of testing.

The new type of drug is consumed in a way like using vape liquid. Of course, it can damage the body if used for a long time.

Drug Lab Case in Bali

Head of the National Drug Agency of the Republic of Indonesia Commissioner General of Police Marthinus Hukom stated that the disclosure of the secret drug laboratory case in Bali was an “alarm” (warning) that the Island of the Gods was a target for world-level narcotics trafficking.

As is known, recently, there have also been cases of drug lab raids in Bali.

First, the case of a drug laboratory uncovered by the Police Criminal Investigation Unit in the Tibubeneng area, Badung Regency, Bali, which Russian and Ukrainian foreigners controlled.

The second was this case in Keliki Kawan Village Road, Gianyar, which was controlled by Filipino and Jordanian foreigners.

Considering that both incidents occurred within a fairly short period of time, Marthinus invited all elements of Bali society to build awareness.

The village officials of Kelusa, Payangan sub-district, Gianyar, Bali, did not monitor the activities of foreigners in their area. As a result, they were unaware of a drug factory built by foreigners in one of the villas.

“There are many villas here, but I don’t know exactly how many there are and who lives there,” the head of Keliki Kawan Hamlet, Kelusa Village, I Nyoman Subur, told DetikBali.
