A German Citizen Deported for Vandalising a Hotel and Assaulting The Locals

The Denpasar Immigration Detention Center deported a German citizen with the initials BLB after being arrested for vandalising a hotel at the tourist area of Gili Air, North Lombok district and assaulting locals. Immigration inspection results show that the suspect is often makes trouble in several places in West Nusa Tenggara and Bali.

Initially, it was known that  BLB had damaged a hotel in Gili Air, North Lombok and fled to several NTB areas. The German  is also known to have caused trouble and fought with residents of Hu’u Village, Dompu, West Nusa Tenggara, until it ended with residents surrounding him and holding him accountable for his actions, so he fled to Central Lombok. On the 20th of June 2023, he was arrested by the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police and Class I Immigration Office TPI Mataram.

After being investigated, it turned out that BLB had exceeded his visa permit period or overstayed for more than 60 days. He could not show his passport because he admitted that his travel documents had been missing since December 2021.

Babay Baenullah, The Head of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, stated that based on immigration records, BLB is a visa holder with a limited stay permit (ITAS) which expires on November 30th, 2019.

On July 21st of 2023, the German citizen was handed over to the North Kuta Police, Badung, because he was named as a suspect in a report from his ex-girlfriend in a theft case that he allegedly committed, as referred to in Article 362 of the Criminal Code. However, his ex-girlfriend officially withdrew her report on the27th of July 2023, so the criminal process and investigation were not continued and resolved in restorative justice.

The 40-year-old German citizen was then deported through Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on the night of the 31st of July 2023, with the aim of departure to Hamburg International Airport. Denpasar Detention Center officers closely guarded the German at the detention centre until he was deported. BLB who have been deported will be included in the list of deterrence to the Directorate General of Immigration.
