About Charles Lim

His name is Charles Lim, His friends call him Lim. He was born in Sukabumi but he moved to Jakarta since he was 6 years old. He is a bachelor degree from Taiwan Kang Ning Da Xue (康寧大學) University, Tainan. He transfered school to Da Yeh Da Xue (大葉大學), Changhua. The reason he transfer to another university is that he realise that he need to make more network connections for my passion, and that’s business. Since he was a kid, his parents and all of the people around me say that I’m very an active person and good at communication, likes to talk, a risk taker, optimistic, that is become his main reason of choosing Business major.

Why Did You Start PT. DAESAN MAKMUR SENTOSA?

When he was in Taiwan, he was struggle to find a work places, due to regulation of foreigner status, and particularly he try to find a way to make a money, and that’s when he started to work in HCT Logistic. He work from 7 PM – 10 PM at night shift. and from that moment he realised that he cannot take that work anymore, because of Charles Lim’s health condition.

Every year there is a summer vacation and winter vacation. When he got back home to Jakarta for vacation, his uncle suddenly said “Do you want to start your own business as a coffee bean seller?” and along the way, he started to sell coffee beans in Taiwan, in first attempt, he sold to friends, then teacher. But, they all laugh at me and says that “this business isn’t gonna work out because it’s too pricey”. They said,

And then, his girlfriend told him to try to sell it to amazon.com USA, and from that moment he realised that this isn’t gonna be easy, it’s gonna have a lot of complicated stuff, but he likes the thrill about having this business even though sometimes it makes a headache and he truly like it. 

After move on from the Luwak Coffee Bean, he tried to sell Bidet to the United States even though he failed, but what he learned is ‘NEVER GIVE UP EASILY’

When he is staying in Indonesia for good, his parents told him to run my father’s investment business in Bag Manufacture and Bird Nest (Sarang Walet). Until now he is still running those businesses.

So, The businesses that he is currently working on are two:

1. PT. DAESAN MAKMUR SENTOSA ( Bag Manufacturer Specialist )

2. Bird Nest Consume

PT. DAESAN MAKMUR SENTOSA is a Bag Manufacture Factory that produce several International Bag Brands and Local Brands. We have held 16 brands along the way to this day. And the reason that we jump in this business is because the rising high of backpack uses for school, travel, hiking, fashion or even during winter seasons. 

What are The Challenges of Running a Business in Jakarta?

The challenge that we must face running business in Jakarta is the Non Healthy competitor, the prices that are too high for the supply and must sell as low as we can.

So, Where Do You See Your Businesses in 10 Years?

In these 2 years, He truly believes that his company can even be better! Because of a slowly expanding the line of sewing and growing into the tech industry to fasten the work. But he guaranteed that PT. DAESAN MAKMUR SENTOSA will be the trend topic for Bag Manufacturing Factories within 2 years.

Take a risk, learn from it. If you are not taking a risk, then actually you are in the risk situation.”
