I was craving some fusion Japanese food and went to Kenjiro to have dinner. The first thing that comes to my mind once I entered the place is the ambience is lovely. Definitely, a place with a zen feeling since it’s fully furnished with a Japanese traditional interior, complete with their signature curve gate. The traditional-style architecture has a modern minimalist touch, with dominating wood material which creates a warm atmosphere.
The quality of the food was outstanding. As one would anticipate from a top-notch Japanese restaurant, the food was well-prepared and tasted clean and fresh. This time for an appetizer, I chose the Wakame Salad. The choice of fresh vegetables and seaweed served with a sprinkling of sesame is fresh and savoury at the same time.
Next, I ordered a wagyu chuck eye roll. Don’t ask, the taste is super delicious and juicy, and the staff was friendly and helpful in grilling the meat. Besides the wagyu, I also ordered the Niku Truffle Inari which was super! The size is also quite large and can’t be eaten in one bite. You must try their amazing Sirloin Hana Roll too. The sirloin meat is medium cooked completed with a creamy and savoury seasoning; it is definitely the epitome of delish!
But apart from the menu I’ve mentioned before, the prima donna at Kenjiro is the Salmon Carpaccio. As a salmon lover, this dish is really well served with salmon meat mixed with salmon skin on each sheet. It’s just mouth-watering in every bite.
For the dessert, I chose Mille crepes with caramel sauce and ogura ice cream. Both were delicious and not too sweet for my liking. It’s just a perfect fit!
In terms of price, it’s quite reasonable for a premium Japanese restaurant. The price ranges start from IDR 300,000 – IDR 350,000 per person. If you want to dine at Kenjiro, be sure to make a reservation in advance. If possible, come on weekdays to avoid the crowds.
