On the last weekend of 12–13 July, the Social Expat team was introduced to an excellent selection of experiences rooted in serenity, tranquillity, and reflection during the 1st Anniversary of Hotel Tentrem Jakarta.
Through the Eka Warsa Festival – a rendition of “One Year” in poetic Javanese, the five-star sanctuary in Alam Sutera invited a select group, including Social Expat, to an intimate celebration of wellness: an immersive Reiki and Sound Healing session, followed by a Javanese afternoon tea ceremony.
A Gathering of Calm
A two-day event offered guests a rare opportunity to do precisely that. On 12–13 July 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., the Amarta and Tirta Lounge played host to an afternoon of restorative calm, courtesy of Kayu Manis Restaurant in partnership with the Reiki Master Circle.
Set against the warm grain of polished timber and scented with gentle notes of aromatherapy, the event centred on a two-hour immersive session combining Reiki and sound healing to guide an exploration of inner balance, emotional stillness and holistic well-being. Floor mats were arranged in quiet symmetry, aligned with the hush that fell over the room, which was not imposed but emerged naturally.
The session began with breathwork, slow, grounding, and soon gave way to Reiki energy healing, led by experienced practitioners, inviting a subtle yet unmistakable release.
An ancient Japanese modality, Reiki works not with muscles or bones but with the intangible concept of the body’s energetic field that here felt remarkably tangible.
Complementing the Reiki practice was a live performance of sound healing, rendered through an ensemble of sound therapy. The tones enveloped—vibrating through ribcages and floorboards alike, producing a stillness so full it bordered on sacred.
Our eyes closed. Breathing deep. Nothing to do but be.
Tea and Tradition
After two hours, emerging from the healing session was like waking from a soft, lucid dream. Yet, the experience was far from over. As participants stretched their limbs and shared knowing glances with strangers now strangely connected, hosts from Kayu Manis Restaurant began ushering in the second act: the Tentrem Rona Jawi Afternoon Tea.
Laid out in elegant tiers, the menu was a refined homage to Javanese culinary elegance. There were sweet treats like klepon and wingko babat, alongside savoury delicacies such as lumpia semarang and delicate rempeyek.
All were paired with Tema Tea’s premium herbal blends, steeped and poured with the same ceremonial grace as one might expect at a Japanese ryokan.
Conversation gently returned. Others shared experiences, discussing the emotional resonance of the gongs or the warmth they felt during the Reiki process.

Each guest departed not only with a lighter heart but a curated goodie bag, thoughtfully assembled by local wellness brands Acaraki and Tema Tea.
