Tourists flocking to the sun-soaked shores of Kuta Beach in Bali are being cautioned by authorities to cease their flagrant disregard for illegal parking regulations. The Kuta Beach management team has issued this stern warning in response to an influx of complaints from tourists and locals regarding the reckless parking habits exhibited in the vicinity of Kuta Beach.
Chairman of the LPM Kuta (Local Community Organisation), Putu Adnyana, voiced his concern during a press conference, stating, “Yes, we receive a lot of complaints from the public. Many vehicles are parked haphazardly on the sidewalk.” Adnyana also noted that this parking predicament extends beyond Kuta Beach, affecting all beaches along the Samigita Beach stretch, including Seminyak and Legian.
The heart of the issue is the limited parking availability at the Kuta Beachfront, which prompts some tourists to resort to thoughtless parking practises. Adnyana expressed his frustration, emphasising that abandoning rented mopeds along roadsides, sidewalks, and in random locations near main car parks is unacceptable.
To tackle this growing problem of illegal parking, the LPM Kuta Subdistrict, in collaboration with the Bali Police, Civil Service (Satpol PP), and Badung Regency Transportation Service, took decisive action against 20 vehicles that were illegally parked in this popular tourist hotspot.
Adnyana detailed their approach, saying, “Earlier, we had executed it; we had already flattened the tyres [of the mopeds], and there was already a sign with banners installed. The officers who were on patrol were able to take action to rectify it immediately.”
Adnyana clarified, “Following our coordination in the field, whether from Satpol PP, the Transportation Agency, or the police, if they are on patrol, they will immediately take action [against illegally parked vehicles] without having to patrol together. Maybe there will be a certain time when we will take direct action to tow it.”
Authorities have urged tourists to be responsible and respectful when it comes to parking, reminding them that disregarding parking regulations poses safety risks and affects the overall experience of visiting Kuta Beach. Tourists are encouraged to use designated parking areas and follow local parking rules to maintain the harmony and beauty of this renowned Balinese destination.
As the situation escalates, the Kuta Beach management team and authorities hope that their actions and warnings will deter further instances of illegal parking, ensuring that Kuta Beach and its surrounding areas remain a tranquil and picturesque escape for all.
