Bali Brothel Case – Michael Jerome Le Grand (50) and his wife, Lynley Jane Le Grand (44), were sentenced to seven months in prison by the Denpasar District Court on 6 March 2025. The couple, who managed Pink Palace Spa Bali, were convicted of providing sensual massage services, which were proven to be linked to prostitution.
Presiding Judge Heriyanti announced, “Stating that defendant 1 Jerome Le Grand and defendant 2 Jane Le Grand are legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the crime of pornographic services. Sentencing defendants 1 and 2 to 7 months imprisonment each,” as reported by Detiknews.
The court’s ruling was based on the findings that the Le Grands had been providing services that involved sexual activities between customers and therapists at their spa.
When the Pink Palace Spa was raided by the police in October 2024, evidence was seized that confirmed the illegal nature of their business, which included the provision of sexual services alongside massage.
The couple was found guilty under Article 30 of the Pornography Law, in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, for exploiting sexual activity and offering such services either directly or indirectly.
A Lighter Sentence Than Prosecutors’ Demands
While prosecutors had requested a nine-month sentence for the couple, the court issued a lighter sentence.
“Considering the defendant Michael Jerome suffers from a chronic disease that requires intensive treatment,” the Deputy Chairperson of the Denpasar District Court said in mitigating the charges, as reported by Detiknews.
Both Michael and Lynley Le Grand accepted the verdict without comment. Jerome, in particular, was seen rushing out of the courtroom and towards the detention centre, offering a brief “No comment. Thank you” to the press.
Court Convicts Pink Palace Spa Staff for Involvement in the Crime
In addition to the Le Grand couple, four employees of the Pink Palace Spa were also sentenced to seven months in prison. Wawan Sugiastoro, Ni Made Windri Shanti, Wina Wati, and I Gusti Ngurah Juliawan were found guilty of participating in the operation of the prostitution business.
“The court declares that the defendants Wawan, Windri, Shanti, Wina, and Juliawan are legally and convincingly guilty of participating in serving pornography. Sentence the defendants to seven months in prison each,” said Judge Heriyanti during the ruling.

The court determined that these employees were involved in recruiting therapists to provide sensual massage services with the additional offer of sexual activity, further perpetuating the illegal operations of the Pink Palace Spa.
Evidence gathered during the Bali Brothel raid showed that the spa advertised its illicit services openly, including offering sexual acts for a fee, which led to the police investigation and subsequent arrests.
After Prison, Couple Set for Immediate Deportation to Australia
Following the completion of their sentences, both Michael and Lynley Le Grand will be deported to Australia. The couple, who have lived in Bali for many years, were well-known for their involvement in local businesses, including the popular café, The Corner, in Seminyak.
As reported by Beritasatu, the Le Grands have also become known for their connection to the 2002 Bali bombing, in which Lynley was injured.
Despite this history, their recent criminal activity involving the Bali brothel led to their convictions. The Australian couple’s business Instagram account, which once described the massage parlour as a “relaxing sanctuary,” has since been deleted.
After the raid in October 2024, police discovered evidence such as lingerie, condoms, and massage oils.
Authorities reported that the spa offered illicit services, including “same-sex prostitution and bisexual practices”, advertised via mobile billboards, which ultimately prompted the police action.
The Le Grands are expected to reunite with their three children, who have been living with relatives in Bali. Once released from Kerobokan Prison, they will meet with immigration officials before returning to Australia.
