DAY6 Jakarta Concert Chaos: Promoter Under Fire as Ministry Demands Refunds

Share:

The chaos that occurred during DAY6’s concert in Jakarta on 3 May 2025, which was promoted by Mecima Pro, became a hot topic on social media.

The promoter of the event, PT Melania Citra Permata aka Mecimapro, no doubt became the party held accountable for the chaos at the concert titled Forever Young.

Many fans and concertgoers poured out their impressions on social media that the Day6 concert t-shirt last weekend was contributed by poor event management.

After an onslaught of protests from DAY6 fans regarding the Forever Young concert in Jakarta, Indonesian promoter Mecimapro finally apologised.

Mecimapro opened its voice by writing an official statement which was then uploaded on their social media, Wednesday (7/5/2025).

They admitted that they realised the chaos of the concert and promised to improve themselves.

“To all Day6 fans who attended the Jakarta concert, we apologise profusely for all the inconveniences that occurred during the concert, including the change of venue,” quoted from the @mecimapro Instagram account.

List of problems with Day6’s disrupted concert in Jakarta

Complaints against Mecimapro in organising the Day6 3rd World Tour concert: Forever Young are summarised in a chronology document compiled by a Day6 fan account called @mydayberserikat (archive) on social media X.

In the document they shared, unpleasant experiences have even occurred since ticket purchase.

For example, many membership accounts were not detected by the system, due to poor website quality and not using a suitable vendor for ticketing war.

Problems also arose when General Sales ticket purchases opened on 7 January 2025. Some ticket buyers who successfully made payments did not receive e-tickets and their funds were held in pending payment status.

This pending payment status is completed in a span of up to two weeks.

As is known, initially the concert was announced to take place at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

However, after tickets were sold, the concert moved to the Madya Stadium, GBK, on the grounds that JIS would be used for a local football match.

The move sparked protests from fans. They expressed dissatisfaction with the change in seat plan, as well as the inappropriate distribution of seat numbers (SN) and queue numbers (QN).

In addition, on H-2 before the concert, the ticket purchasing platform, Tiket.com, announced the ticket refund process due to a lack of clear information from Mecima Pro.

The situation escalated when confetti from SNSD’s Taeyeon concert, which took place on 12 April 2025, was also found scattered at DAY6’s concert. The concert was organised by promoter Dyandra Global Edutainment and took place before DAY6’s event.

The confetti misuse was eventually recognised by the vendor as negligence. In an official statement released on 6 May 2025, the vendor mentioned that they did not do a thorough cleaning of the equipment used, leaving the confetti mixed.

The vendor also apologised for the negligence in the standard operating procedure (SOP) of cleaning the equipment, and emphasised that they were responsible for the incident.

“We take responsibility for this incident and sincerely apologise to the artists, staff, fans, and promoters or other affected parties,” the vendor said.

In response to this incident, the vendor is committed to ensuring thorough cleaning of equipment after each event, conducting training for employees, and guaranteeing that a similar incident will not occur in the future.

Ministry of Trade urges promoter Mecimapro to solve the problem

Minister of Trade Budi Santoso ensured that the Ministry of Trade will continue to monitor the progress of Day6 concert ticket refunds until the end of May 2025.

Budi gave the promoter Mecimapro the opportunity to complete the refund process, which is targeted to be completed this month.

“Let’s just guard it together. We’ll see first, they have good intentions to finish by the end of May 2025,” Budi said, as reported by Antara.

He said that currently the promoter is said to have completed 30–40 percent of the refund process.

Regarding the sanctions that will be imposed on Mecimapro, Budi emphasised that he is still waiting for the development of the promoter’s promise.

Previously, the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) through the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (Ditjen PKTN) summoned concert promoter Mecimapro, PT Global Tiket Network (tiket.com), and the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI) regarding consumer complaints about the purchase of Day6 ‘3rd World Tour Forever Young’ concert tickets.
