1st September 2022 – 2 foreigners and an Indonesian were arrested by the Soekarno-Hatta Customs for smuggling methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs. The two foreigners are from Mexico and Iran respectively.
The Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Type C Customs and Excise KPU Office, Finari Manan, clarified that the foreigner from Mexican is a woman with the initials RLH. She was arrested on 19th August 2022 after arriving at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 at 5:35 PM WIB.
The suspect RLH was found in possession of a suitcase with its cover containing 3,000 grams of methamphetamine.
When questioned, RLH confessed that she was ordered by a member of the international drug network from Mexico to take the suitcase containing methamphetamine from someone in Turkey.
She arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport through flight route Istanbul-Jakarta.
Furthermore, the suitcase will be handed over to a foreigner from Iran with the initials EK at a hotel in the West Jakarta area.
Through the information given by RHL, the Customs officers then arrested EK.
Meanwhile, an Indonesian was arrested by the Soekarno-Hatta Customs for smuggling ecstasy. The ecstasy was smuggled in a sunflower seeds snack package sent from Malaysia.
The male Indonesian with the initials RA was found to be the recipient of the shipment from Malaysia which arrived on 18th August 2022 during control delivery. The Customs office found 298 pieces of ecstasy in the package.
Based on the result of the investigation, the receiver of the package is a woman from China with the initials XJ. She is suspected of being an ex-convict in the narcotics abuse case.
However, during the controlled delivery on Friday (21/8), the receiver of the package turns out to be suspect RA.
Manan said that the police are currently still searching for the recipient with the initials XJ.
From the two cases, around 3,000 grams of methamphetamine and 298 pieces of ecstasy are confiscated.
